Work with a five-member reporting team, and others across the newsroom, to plan and execute investigative and enterprise journalism. Oversee coverage of state politics and government. Help the newsroom find ways to engage readers on social media.

Accountability Editor, Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington, Ky., Sept. 2011 – Dec. 2014 Manage a team of five reporters. Planned and edited watchdog journalism about Kentucky government, Southern and Eastern Kentucky and the University of Kentucky. Managed the newspaper’s Bluegrass Politics blog. Served as the newsroom’s social media guru.

Helped manage a team of eight reporters, including five focused on daily and enterprise coverage of state, local and federal government. Managed the newspaper’s Bluegrass Politics blog.

Led a three-person state Capitol bureau, writing daily and enterprise stories about state government and the Kentucky General Assembly. Managed the newspaper’s Bluegrass Politics blog.

Editor-In-Chief, College Heights Herald, Bowling Green, Ky., Jan. 1999 – Dec. 1999. The College Heights Herald won the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award in 1999 and 2000. The time period for each award included one semester of my tenure as editor of the semiweekly student newspaper at Western Kentucky University.
